Silkie thread!

We are NEW to chickens and we started with Silkies. A friend
gave them to us and we love them.

One problem: there are NOT a bunch of Silkie Hatching people in
New York State. We will try hatching our own soon. We plan to
stay with one breed. We do have a small coop and it is easier to
work with one breed. Regards, Aria

I got camera happy today and took a snapshot of the Silkie/Showgirl/Sizzle clan. Three are missing. They had important duties in the nestbox.

YAYEE! Im getting a new Silkie this month!

So Far, just for old times sake XD I have:

- 4 Barred rocks, 2 hens, 2 pullets,

- 2 Silkies, and Pullet and a Rooster

- 1 Gold Laced Wynadotte pullet

The Silkie rooster, Nugget ( I've posted about him a billion times) is getting rehomed right before Christmas, because he is Crowing all o fthe time, and honestly is getting kinda mean :/ he pecked at me this morning and fluffed himself up like he wanted to scrap. I told him " Sir, we are friends, but if you wanna scrap, homie, lets go then. I'll be donating your scrawny remains to KFC"

so yeah, we are no longer friends, because he pecked me, and will squawk at me every time i get near the coop. he knows who feeds him though.

So he is going to one of my moms Chicken Owning Clients who is moving to Arizona from California.

I'll be getting a new silkie HEN shortly after ^-^ What color should I get her? Im thinking of another white, but i've heard Blue and Buff are pretty, if bred of the right lineage.

These are most of my Silkie and bantam Cochin coop flock out today enjoying the sunshine. 30weeks old and I still am sure of the sex of only 1 the rooster Chipchip.

I posted Buffy when she was little she got pecked in the head! then did this weird head whip thing she is bigger now and hardly ever does the head flip any more.
here she is

I would get a splash, porcelain or paint hen!

Thanks for the Welcome. Wished I was CLOSER. NYS is not a Silkie State.
DARN. We LOVE them. I have one blue rooster, 2 buff, and one white, and one
white with a black head.

Perhaps in March we will try a HATCH. Regards, Aria
