if you call a Tupper with a heat lamp a brooder they are there in my half bath off the muck room. I have about 25 new chicks.

Oh my gosh, I hadn't even noticed the resemblance when I took the picture, haha! The light made her look pretty yellow for whatever reason!

Yeah she looks very yellow. My new ones are white. I was hoping for color. They are pushy little buggers. They better be careful though those RIR and br sharing the brooder won't be little long.

Be careful with that. I had Lf Chicks and Silkies in the same brooder same age and thought I was going to loose one and have another brain damaged for life.

One peck on the head is all it takes from LF to take out a silkie. I saved them but Chose to brood separately after that.

It depends largely on your set up. My Silkie hens raise most of my large fowl and live happily amounts them. I have Silkie , Wyandotte and Sussex all together under a Silkie hen. She cares for them all equally and the little Silkie ' chest bumps ' with the best of them.

Does the Silkie Mom have rules that would not be in place without her?
My Broody outside has a differently behaved flock than the ones in the brooder.

I have been watching since the hatch. She keeps the peace always. The Brooder babies are like toddlers unsupervised on the playground.
