Bearding can vary. Some birds can be partially bearded, and others heavily bearded. I always have a hard time telling unless they've got big beards though

Looks like a hen to me. The leakage is not gender specific.

With Silkies, looking like a hen isn't necessarily gender specific either That black looks just like my black roo when he was little, except he didn't have the leakage. They're so confusing!

I ordered 7 white silkies, straight run, mix of bearded & non bearded from a hatchery. This morning someone had said that usually the hatcheries only give you non bearded. Is that true? How can I tell if these babies are bearded or not. They're only 5 days old. Can you tell this early?

Depends on the hatchery, to me it seems to be about a 50/50 split when I see them at the feed store.

Your little guys all appear to be bearded.

This is one of our 3 silkie's hanging out with his best bud. These two are inseparable. They absolutely adore each other.

If i grab her....., this particular Silkie has to go along with her or she will freak the heck out. Lol
