Silkie thread!

Thanks for your thoughts Caleb's Chicks! I really can't explain it - and actually the research I've down point to a possible vitamin deficiency? Not sure of course - I have been giving her st johns wart, sunflower seeds and electrolytes daily. I think she has improved some - but not enough! I think it is too late to get silkie chicks fair - they need time to fill out and fair is at the end of July.

I am definitely looking to improve my breeding stock this year. Towards the end of the hatching season I will be in the market for some nice silkie eggs!

I missed your earlier post regarding the head wobbling, could be a peck injury or cerebral hemorrhage , common in vaulted skulls. A good water soluable poultry multi vitamin that contains vit E and B12 and an anti inflammatory added to the feed, such as tumeric powder may help. The alternative is to administer prednisone . :)

I have a question, I have 2 little silkies in with three leghorns and a harco, should I separate the silkies from the others. One little silkie was trampled today.
Thanks in advance for your advise

I bought them off a local farmer last Friday, he had them all together so I assumed it was ok. They have been together since. The silkies I notice try to snuggle under the leghorns.
I have them in a clear plastic container- the silkies are now 10 days old, the leghorns are 8 days old.
The container had a heating pad wrapped in a pillow case with newspaper and wood shavings on top. The container is 3 ft x 18 in

That's plenty of space for now.
