Silkie thread!

Hey I need help urgent idk if I should be concerned but I am I was not feeling well this morning so I was not able to feed my silkies this morning and usually under them they have a bubble that is always felt watery but when I feed them they are all scarfing them down and now there bumps are hard and they keep circling there heads like no you did not but idk if they're all choking or what but I need help on whasts wrong I dontvwant tomwake up to my babies dead = (

That 'bubble' is the chickens crop and if it is hard that means it is very full. I know exactly what you are talking about with the neck thing, I have seen our chickens do that before. It usually happens when their crops are really full, I always think of it as they are trying to somehow make more room in their crop or help something to go down. With your silkies I would suggest not letting them eat anymore because hungry chickens will gorge themselves to the point of throwing up and it can actually damage their crop if it gets too overstuffed. Just make sure that their crops have emptied out by tomorrow morning and they should be just fine. I hope you and them start to feel better soon.

I usually let them out and let them get a little bit then I put them back so they can get the warmth from the light but they had not access to grass today or yesterday

Access to grass means that they also get natural grit from the soil. Best not to pick grass as this is one of the main contributitors to crop impaction. If their crops are full and they have overdone it they will move their necks from side to side in an attempt to adjust their crop. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and keep an eye on them . Get well soon.:)

Oh dear, poor little ones. Looks like you are dealing with cocci you will need to treat asap . A little buttermilk will help relieve the symptoms until you can get some amprolium in their water.

You can try using Corid to treat coccidiosis. It worked wonders when my girls had it. They were better in three days. And one of my friends just had a chicken come down with it too and she used Corid and her girls are all better now. Just make sure with whatever you treat them with you treat the whole flock because coccidiosis is very contagious and can kill fast. I hope your chickens all get better soon an you don't experience anymore deaths. I'm so sorry about your little silkie!!!

You are never too old for a hug. Mom broodie with this year's babies (not silkie) and her girl from last year.

Sometimes they co-parent and sometimes she still thinks she's a chick

Just to clarify, for those that don't know, amprolium is the active ingredient in corid.
When using amprolium it's is advised to use the full treatment dose for 5-7days, then halve the dosage for a further 5-7days followed up by halving the dose again for a final week. By doing this you are not only treating but you helping the birds to build immunity.
