Silkie thread!

Does anyone know if my white chick looks heathy?? she's a lot smaller then the other two that my breeder gave me when one of my babies died from wry neck>>> she sleeps a lot more to but I see her eat and drink!! snow white
With chicks that young, the two main fears are mareks and cocci. To prevent cocci, always start your chicks on medicated feed, keep them cool/well-ventilated, clean your coop often, and keep the waterer clear of any chicken poop. I've never dealt with mareks, so I don't want to give you any wrong information. Research those two illnesses and see if the any of the symptoms match closely. Another possibility is that's she's just cold. She looks a lot younger than the others, young enough to need a heat lamp or a broody mama to take care of her. Get her under a heat lamp first, then consider illnesses.

I let her be outside yesterday because it was 98 outside she never stops standing she puts her head under her wing but still standing sleeps! I give her medicated chick starter she eats and drinks she is just so little!! smaller then the ones I got the same day they hatched!!! I am also giving her the poly-vi-sol I bought from the one I had that had wry neck to make sure!! I know that krewella looks like she put her wing in a plug so I think shes a sizzle!! idk what the other is!! maybe I just spend to much time watching my chickens!!!

I do have some antibiotics from when my others had a sneeze should I try that???

I have her in a little cage alone right now because she had poo stuck to her neck and until she dries completely I didnt want them to picked on her!

Make sure she has ventilation in that cage. We use hay also and the fine particles can cause issues with their respiratory. I would start them on a broad spectrum antibiotic for a week. If they don't improve you need to get some corid. The one is definitely sick or cold. Sleep standing is usually a sign of those 2 things. Don't wait till its to late. Good luck. :)

Thanks I just put antibiotics in her water! She was only in that cage 30 minutes util she dried and I could return her to her flock!

Lethargic chicks could have a couple more issues that make them grow slower than their flockmates and rest a lot in spite of still eating and drinking. I would have a poop sample dropped off at a vet's office to look for worms or cocci bacteria to rule those issues out as they are easily treatable if caught early. I had 2 Ameraucana sisters early in my chickeneering days and one grew while the other didn't and died about 3 weeks after being shipped to me. By the time the breeder got back to my question about what was wrong it was too late to treat. That's when I lined up a vet who would see birds and do fecal tests for me the day I receive new pullets. Many breeders unknowingly ship chicks/juveniles with hidden issues that are not apparent at the time of shipping and it's up to the new owner to take proactive action with their new birds.
