Silkie thread!

I was just wondering if anyone else has to clip there chickens nails?? Bear is a older chicken I got from my friend! I noticed she was walking funny when I looked at her feet her nails where curled so I clipped them I hope that's ok

Yes, ok to clip if they need it. I will do it gradually a little bit over 2 or 3 days so I don't clip the vein. I notice the rear toes of Silkies seem to get longest because they don't get into scratching the dirt to get worn down as much as the front 3 toes. Pretty girl!

i have clipped my russian orloff nails several times. they get VERY long for some reason! much easier than clipping my dogs which i will NOT do. i don't cut them very short tho. maybe a couple times a year and this year she did not need it done.

My silkies don't seem to scratch their nails down very well. I have to trim them two or three times a year. It's pretty normal. I have an older ameraucana hen that is the same way. She's going blind and doesn't scratch as much so I need to take care of them for her.

Here's that ridiculous looking rooster again. He saw the camera and took off. I had to go get the telephoto lens on it and stay back. He still was watching me and not staying still. He lives with the large fowl hens.

Your rooster looks like he has Serema in him. He is awesome!

He reminds me of a serama too. Dozens of boys I've hatched and he's the biggest oddball.

The only reason I kept him is he's so silly looking and the large fowl hens don't mind what breed their roosters are.

Got my first egg today!!!! Can you tell between a bantam Cochin and silkie egg?! Trying to figure out who it came from. My chickens are 5.5 months old so I was a bit surprised I have an egg already!!!

It looks a lot like my silkie's egg. She started laying last week on Tuesday. I got my 4th egg from her today!!! Good luck on solving your mystery!
