Silkie thread!

Thank you, that is very helpful... I don't know if Hope is a boy or girl yet, but better to try to help than left it get worse.

Do try. It takes longer in the boots for older chicks and may not fully fix it. Just hatched chicks it can be fixed very fast and usually to normal. After a day or so, everything starts setting.

I use poster board cut to size and bandaids. Splay the toes out in the correct position as best you can without hurting.

I have a very broody silky she just hatched a brood 6 weeks ago and.is.back on the nest.trying to hatch everyone's eggs. Should I let her brood again? Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just a few of my 60 something silkies! LOL!

So tonight I played partridge silkie egg tetris. The answer was 35 will fit im the bator with these eggs since most are from bigger girls. I know most won't be fertile so stuffing as many in the incubator as I could was the way to go.

There are also a dozen under a hen from the white rooster that should give me random odd colors.

I used some pipe-cleaners bent to toe shapes and then wrapped them on with some vet wrap. Both of her feet were curled over and she was walking on the sides of her feet. She is walking flat footed now, so I just hope it works to at least allow her to use the feet. FullSizeRender.jpg

I agree, it will make for a better quality of life even if it takes extra time for you.

I asked this months ago on a different silkie thread but didn't get much of a response. Has anyone ever had a silkie chick hatch that looks like this? Dad is Blue, mom is Splash.

She's old enough to be outside now and completely feathered so I'll have to get an updated pic today. That spot on her head is still very dark and obvious lol.
