Silkie thread!

My hybrids are growing fast!☺
Oldest is Iris, that hatched 12/4/20.
1/4 Ameraucana, 1/4 BCM (olive egger) and 1/2 silkie.
She is just starting to develop a crest. Also has the Ameraucana cheeks and is bearded from both parents.
The other 5 are from Christmas Eve. 3 Black ones are full siblings to Iris. Blue (grey) one is 1/2 Ameraucana and 1/2 silkie and yellow one is 1/4 leghorn, 1/8 RIR, 1/8 white rock and 1/2 silkie.
All have feathered legs, though the olive Egger crosses have the heaviest feathering. All have dark legs and skin, all have 5 toes except the blue one has 4 (the other 2 similar crosses had 5, they went to new homes already).
Have these 6 left out of the 20 that hatched.
Will likely keep 2 or 3.
Happy New Year everyone!🥰

It's not that Silkies are just beautiful fluffy Teddy Bears of the chicken world -- it's that they have sweet docile temperaments too. I suggest you never have just ONE Silkie in a flock since bigger chicken breeds are tempted to bully Silkies. Have at least 2 or more Silkies in a mixed flock to toodle around together away from the bigger chicken breeds. Our two Silkies were not exactly best buddies but they toodled around together away from the bigger breeds in the flock:

Random question, what is the breed of the barred bird in picture one? They are all beautiful, by the way!

@PioneerChicks The barred bird is actually a rare breed Cuckoo Breda. Breda come in several varieties -- Cuckoo, BBS (Blue/Black/Splash), White, and Mottled. Breda have no comb but have a triangle tassel on top, vulture hocks, feathered legs/toes. Go to the BYC Breda Fowl thread to see these gorgeous statuesque regal birds -- mostly docile temperaments -- my favorite is the Blue Breda:

Woah, I've never heard of them! I looked up more pictures of them, they are beautiful!

Is the hen the same thing? They're beautiful!❤😍

Full siblings. They have a half sister who's mother was a hatcher easter egger.

It's been raining like mad and the silkies take advantage of what water gets in their pens, so everyone's heads are wet. I'd get a picture of the 3/4 silkies mothered by that hen there.
