Hannah....that pullet is looking gorgeous and should do well. Good luck at the farm show! I knew I should have kept more of those summer babies back..... They were all out of that new black cockerel from Premier.

Roocrazy....not sure when I'll have chicks available yet and I warned ya it might be late February at least for pickup. Last few batches have only been 4-5 chicks making out of the shell from each one. I need another few weeks of these higher temps for some unfrozen eggs. My own growout pens are nowhere full yet and the only ones I'll be letting go of are the first round PQ culls. Haven't even started thinking about the waiting list yet.... Just a friendly reminder too: If you plan on brooding them with a high strung standard breed like phoenix, expect alot of losses. Most of my babies do have high vaulted skulls and there is the lil ole problem called crookneck/cerebral hernia. I've had good luck with some other bantam breeds. I had a few standard cochin chicks in with mine last spring and lost over 40 of my silkie babies to them. They are fairly delicate! Hatchery type with the small crests and closed skulls are a whole other story.

Thankyou so much Amy! Competition is going to be very tough at Farm Show, over 2,400 birds entered. Even if any of my birds get BB I'll be overjoyed. The boys from your group are just now starting to mate and I cant wait until I can start incubating their eggs. I'll have three breeding pens this season. Pen #1 will have two black cockerels over black pullets (strictly just your line). Pen #2 will have a blue cock from Brody's Broodello and a black cockerel from you in with blue, splash, and a couple black hens. Pen #3 will be my partridge silkies, mainly my project pen in achieving correct color and type.
The one black cockerel I kept back is perfect except for 4-5 gold leakage feathers in the hacckle. He's the one I'm putting in with my blues/splashes. The other two cockerels have not the greatest wingsets but hopefully with my breedings I'll have that corrected.
