I was trying to point out that I did say I was feeding her but I didn't want to sound like a jerk! LOL Sorry if I came across like that I didn't mean it.

She was throwing an absolute fit last night at 3 am because she was lonely. Since she's getting better I figured I'd try and put her back in with the other chicks. MISTAKE!! They all apparently have grown like weeds and she hasn't gotten any bigger at all in the last week so they pecked the crap out of her! Poor baby

I put her back in her tub but scooped up my smallest sweetest silkie to keep her company. That seemed to help.

I'm working on that though. My silkies have been a dream of mine for a few years now so I'm committed to making good choices and being patient. Although I do *want* to just go back to Bobbi Porto and buy 50 more chicks ASAP for the cuteness overload I won't do so LOL
I'm gonna take it slow collect from the best I can afford and watch as my babies mature and go from there.

Last night I noticed my favorite little splash sweetie has a partially fused 4th and 5th toe no nice "Y" split AND also has a double toe nail on the 4th toe. FRACK! What do I do with that?!?
That's a DQ or pretty darn close isn't it? Is that something she can pass on genetically? (the bad spacing and the double toe nail)

Hi Colie don't know much about Silkies yet thats why I am here to learn, but just this week 2 people had to cut through webbing on their chicks feet so you might want to go to disease thread and look it up.. glad at least the little one has a room mate now..they can be so mean to each other..

Miss Lydia it really is crazy how mean they got all the sudden! She's the weakling and they zoned in on that in a heartbeat! I was shocked to see her hatch mate was pretty much 50% larger than her in less than a week's time. She's soo tiny in comparison to everyone else it's really pitiful. Makes me want to find some 3-4 week olds to ship in to put her with so she's with some her own size again.

okay but are they for her or you?

and she would probably peck on them since she's older. do you think she has that failure to thrive syndrome? poor thing I hope she can pull through. It sure won't be from lack of trying on your part.

Aha got me! It is just an excuse to buy more!!

I was hoping she wouldn't peck them since they would be the same size pretty much well maybe more like 4-5 weekers would be. Is it just an age thing they can tell if the chick is younger so they would peck? I think she is just undernourished from being sick and the crop thing. I hope she picks up and grows. I *think* Faliure to thrive would have impacted before the 5 week mark if that was the problem. She showed up small but still looked the same age as the other ameraucana now she just looks like a runt

DH said yesterday "No spending $1000's on taking the pet chicken to the vet" sooo that means he has no idea how much a chicken vet visit would costs and as long as it's not $1000's like it was our last emergency with our dog it's ok? right?? That's how I'm taking it!

My dh says the same thing, it took him forever to realize dogs have to go to the vet sometimes.. Men

well I hope she pulls through and starts to catch up with everyone, you have been a good mommie for sure.
