Silkie thread!

I probably have around 70-80 silkies. in Buff, BBS and White. All bearded.

Im wanting to turn a dog kennel into a pen, since its not in use. That way I can hold back more.

I take my culls to local sales or list on craigslist.

and 60 are so in my grow out pens buff and black

I have 9 Adult hens and 4 adult roosters. I have 5 babies and 8 eggs in the bator

I'm not sure my count would be accurate but its probably approaching 100. sigh I guess its time to knock those numbers down a tad or a whole bunch.

I have 20 Partridge silkies. Most are last years hatch. I have 10 chicks with more eggs in the incubator.

have any of you gotten silkies from cackle? After doing more reading around here, I've noticed that there is a huge difference between hatchery birds and breeder birds. I'm really worried that i'm going to get ugly silkies now! Well, not really ugly, but just not real fluffy!

I have gotten silkies from Ideal before some had small crest and to no crest at all. I gave up on the hatchery birds and met with a breeder close to me who is also a BYC'er and I only buy my silkies & hatching eggs from breeders.

Are you looking for pets or are you looking to show or to breed and sell eggs is the real question. If pets hatchery birds are fine to show or to breed to sell eggs find a good breeder.
