Silkie thread!

I have already liked your page and been looking at it all week xD beautiful birds.

Awww...thank you! I really appreciate that! I'm so excited that all the materials for our new coop came in today. I have one coop that has my PQ silkies and this new, bigger one will be for my breeding stock. Mostly BBS and some buffs. I'm only doing the buffs because I can't let go of my little buff boy. He was my only egg that hatched out of 7 and I had to help him and didn't think he'd make it. I was really hoping he'd be a girl, but he is a sweet boy and so my husband is making a separate area of the coop and run just so I can keep him. So, it looks like I'm in the market for some beautiful girls to keep him company!

That sounds like it's going to be a fun project (both the coop build and the buff boy). I love building stuff.

Well, I'm not sure how "fun" it will be. My husband isn't thrilled about building another coop already since he just built our first coop last spring. We didn't realize how much I would enjoy silkies and I never anticipated breeding them at that time.

They're addicting. My boyfriend didn't even want chickens and after he got them for me he hinted at wanting more a few times.

In the far off future, most definitely! Right now? Probably not. We rent and we can't stay here forever. When that day comes if we can't find a nice place like this with a yard, keeping 2 chickens indoor is at least feasible. Any more than that and I'd have to rehome them. I wouldn't wanna do that. We are hoping that we'll be able to buy a home when we can no longer live here though. So fingers crossed!

Good luck! Hope you find the home of your dreams for you and your chickens (many someday!). So, are your chickens house chickens? Do you have diapers for them? I would love to keep one or two inside with me, but my little yorkie would try to eat them.

omgosh can i just say that I love love silkies now

they are white and fluffly like crazy Ill have to bring them in sometime and take their picture to and see if they can be sexed . I got them at a local feed, ranch, farm store. I got them because my little girl wanted some so I finally broke down and bought them Im glad I did they were the last two. their names are peanut butter and honey.
Then I got some eggs like i said from my friend Jessy. I also got some silkie x d'uccle chicks from the eggs

Thank you! It's much more of a possibility down here in FL than it was up in MA. Right now they're house chicks living in a large dog kennel. When they fully feather and get big enough they're going out into the coop. They'll get to spend most of the day 'free ranging' in the yard. We have a huge yard here. They don't have diapers since I don't let them roam the house if I'm not watching them. I think I'm going to try my hand at making some of those when they're older though so they can chill inside with me when it's too hot out.
