I'm 5'9" I feel your pain! Two of my coops are the style with the run that is under the coop and expands out to the sides. Trying to crawl in there when my rooster decides he doesn't want to be put up for the night is no fun! I used 1/2" hardware cloth so I can even poke a broom handle in there to shoo him towards the door

I strongly believe in coops and pens that are tall enough for me to stand up without stooping. I do have a couple of tractors, but the lids raise or slide open so that I can easily get the birds.

Wryneck, crookneck and stargazing are all common names that can refer to any of a number of problems that cause similar symptoms. It really isn't that different than common names applied to plants: the same common name can refer to unrelated plants, and a single plant can have numerous common names--typically used in different regions.

I didn't know that about plants! Cool

That is why most foks who are REALLY into plants use the scientific names when referring to them--then there is no confusion. Spider plant is the same as airplane plant; there are several different plants known as coral plant. Texas sage and Texas Ranger are the same thing, and are sometimes used to refer to only specific cultivars of leucophylum or to them in general. Queen's Wreath and Coral Vine are the same thing. Lady Bamboo and umbrella plant are the same. Mock orange can be any of several completely different plants. Then there is elephant food aka elephant foot aka elephant bush aka miniature jade aka...

These are about 4 months old. Well, the white one is a couple of months older and a hen.. I saw her lay an egg....

Im new to silkies and would like an opinion on them.. What are there colors called? (besides the white one.. LOL) Does the splash looking one look like a rooster?

They are all affectionaly called "the puffies" by my daughter.. she loves them.. They are just for pets, not showing.. but Id like to think I got quality birds...Oh... and they all have that extra toe...

Now I just need a black one and a buff and im set.... a rainbow...

im still trying to mostly figure out wat a sizzle is and all of what goes into making one, as well as frizzle, though seen some, and silkie, as know breed, but gene also, and anyone got silkies without silk, or what would that be? for that matter how do you know have full show birds if you do not, or do you occasionally, cull one to check body for total black pigment? what is conformation silkie any way... black skin, organs, blood, bones, basically down stays instead of growing feather shafts ets. and five toes, with pea (???) comb?

Im sure its on here but I need to see a good picture of a partridge silkie

A sizzle has all silkie features EXCEPT feathering. It is NON-silkied and frizzled. for best offspring, you need a non-silkied non-frizzled counterpart that otherwise has all silkie features (toes, crest, dark skin, etc.)

The cockerel is not really a blue partridge. ALL partrige (blue or regular) should have at least half (preferably more) of their breast feathers black (or blue), not gold. He may be a good female breeder, but is not a show bird, and will not produce show sons.
