Ha! Sound like the gal I got my Silkie eggs from. You will love these chicks!!! I had paid for 8, she sent me 20, one was clear, two quitters, so 17 went into lockdown, and 14 hatched! Mine are 6 1/2 weeks old now, and they are beautiful!!! Here is "DK" as of last week, one of my 7 Partridges.

Aww cute I love that ugly yet so darn cute stage! I think they are adorable but when a friend wants to see my birds that isn't familiar with chicks and/or silkies I always make sure to show them either an adult or a teeny tiny baby since inevitably if they see them before they fluff out they are looking at me like I'm nuts! haha!

*who did you all get eggs from? I'm just nosey so don't think you gotta tell me I just wanted to ask

Shoot guys I thought I was doing good when I wired a computer fan into my old LG incubator. I spliced it to a cell phone charger so it would have power and I thought I was really doing something there!! I can't imagine building a incubator myself and expecting it to work haha!! I have enough trouble when I fire up my Brower or another one I have that isn't preset on temperature!

You can build one, Just do alot of research and wham you done it. If you can wire up a pc fan then you can wire a incubator. When I 1st done it I thought I wired it up wrong and when I plugged it in and everything worked, I was like yepee. I done something right without starting a fire.

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

I got 3 Lav Silkie eggs in a surprise dozen I bought from 'revolutionmam'...hoping they all hatch and I have a trio!

What are the odds...1/100, or 1/1,000?

Did they get shipped? Looking in my crystal ball I'd say you'll get one of the three! Maybe if you do the egg dance you'll get all 3!

Did you get a whole dozen silkie eggs or was it a mixture of breeds? Lavender eggs in my experience are frickin' hard to hatch! Best of luck!!!

I saw an incubator on ebay that is built here in TX I was thinking of ordering. They hand make them and they look super pretty like a little wooden cabinet. Just add your own turners. That's about as close as I'm gonna get to building my own I think. Who knows though! I started this journey thinking I'd never buy an incubator and I'd only have 6 chickens as pets and "for eggs only"! Now look at me haha! I can't even bring myself to eat a silkie egg! It's just weird to me lol My hubs and kiddo like to eat them just fine and say they are tasty but it grosses me out! Not that the got to eat very many of them but when I'm not hoarding them to hatch or when I have a mixed pen or girls without a rooster over them I'm not just gonna toss them.

Man alive I finally made myself watch the brave silkie video on youtube. I was putting it off not wanting to cry over it and darn it I almost cried when I thought she died! I was fanning my face and puffing the whole nine yards! haha

Yes. I got a mixture of breeds. The only other bantam eggs were white, and they said "Polish" so those aren't Silkie eggs.

What kind of incubator do you use? I have a 1588 HB, a Mini Brinsea Advanced, and then two GQF Sportsmans. I may put the Silkie eggs in the Brinsea...

What do you think?
