Pretty but I'm pretty sure that isn't a splash color wise. I can't really say what color I think it is though... I'm curious do you know the breeding the chick came from?

She came from eBay eggs and I can't contact the seller because the "auction ended more than 90 days ago". I guess she will just be the mystery lady in my flock.

You should still be able to contact the seller. If you paid by paypal, You can search your history to find the transaction and get an email address from there. Or, if you saved your email receipt from either paypal or ebay there should be contact info in those. Or, you can search current auctions and see if any of the sellers ring a bell. Most of the time they use the exact same ad when they relist. Hope this helps!

question for you Silkie people..

If white breeds a blue-- what do you get?

What about a blue on a blue? What happens then??

Black x white?

Are Silkies harder to raise than other breeds? I ask because all through the summer's hot weather, the chicks I hatched did vey well.

Now, that its cooled off, I've had 3 die within days of each other for no apparent reason at about 2.5 months old. One was in a pen with shavings, and the other was in a pen with a wire bottom. I first thought maybe one at the savings, but I don't know. It wasn't particularly thin or anything. Obviously the other couldn't have eaten anything but the chick feed.
I"m stumped...I've had no illness in my other chickens.

Check real close for external parasites. I had a similar problem with my chicks & others a few years back, not realizing the ringneck pheasants someone turned loose had bad lice problem & they gave it to my birds. I lost lots everytime the weather changed until I finally figured out the cause. Any wild bird can bring external & internal parasites to your birds.

I don't think so. I think there pretty easy to raise. Like appychick said, check them for bugs. Possibly they have mites and maybe thats killing them. Do you use any stuff for mites/lice? I use Permethrin 10% spray on the younger birds and also make sure to spray their run/coop/bedding.
