Silkie thread!

I've read that the only way to tell silkie gender is if they lay an egg. If that's true, do silkie roos not get spurs?

None of my hens have spurs. The roos took a long time to get spurs. They stayed small at first but after 1 1/2 years they're about an inch long. The cockereals will get those longer feathers on their heads. I can't never remember what they're called. The name sparklers is always what comes to mind but I know thats not it.

Such a simple thing and I can never remember it.

Ok, here are some of my new silkies from Mary Robbins. These hatched yesterday and today, tomorrow is day 21 and I still have some pipping.

I can't believe how vaulted this one's skull is.

One other thing...I have 2 chicks that I believe are black. They both have white markings on their wingtips, butts, and beards & chests. I'm guessing its a 'black' thing since my black australorps had white markings on them when they were little.

I may have a Silkie problem...... I have a pullet/cockerel that's about 3 1/2 months old. I noticed this one because it was alone inside the coop today. It was walking around in circles inside the nest box. It's head is also pointed down. It's not the typical wry neck, or head injury as I've witnessed before. I put it on the ground, and it acted just fine. Only problem (if it is a problem) is with the head pointing down. And, I'm not sure what to do......
