Are you comming to my swap in January if not before?

Thank you.. we are trying to do the best we can researching A LOT as we go since this is our first time with chickens. We did do unknown chicks a couple years ago bought at the feed store. I kept them for a couple weeks and gave them to my neighbor they were MEAN and we didn't like them at all. This time we researched breeds and only bought breeds known to be docile and only from show breeders. My Polish were brought in from NY to FL as I wasn't finding what we wanted locally.

They plan to at some point show and breed all their birds, the girls even have a name to their business already. My husband does web design on his off time (he's a FF/Medic) so he's already purchased their domain name so he can get a site up for them.

If one of the chickens starts eating with a fork not just off it I'm hoping I can get a big pay day..LOL. Yes the chickens do eat off forks and spoons if they happen to be on the table during lunch.

OMG Your chickens are very SPOILED!

yes they are VERY spoiled. I keep laughing saying when they go out to a show the poor judge is going to wonder what is up with the chicken that just wants to sit on his hand like a parrot. There is one Silkie that every time it's out with us must sit on a finger like a parrot and won't get off! It's fine when we pick it up normal like but just hanging out with us it has to be sitting on a finger.

Welcome to BYC, ChickenRaiser! I see you have a bad case of "silkie fever" like the rest of us! I have heard of roosters crowing as young as 8 weeks and some not until 12 months. My rooster was 6 months old when it laid an egg.

So there you have it!

We would love to see photos of your flock!

Here he is, hiding under the sink and feeling very sorry for himself!

I'm thinking about putting it back on him though as I saw him scratch his eye again with his feet. I know it itches buddy, but you gotta lay off if you want it to get better! Can you use cortizone around the eye?
