Thanks, I'm in love with this color. Hopefully in the next few years we will have them ready for recognition! I have been so careful, and have only allowed one person access to adults, and there might have been a few eggs from the hens in my two egg auctions. Other than that, they are not out there, not until they are "perfect". Sorry the perfectionist in me wants to make sure they are consistant first, before they are out in the world.

I heard there was someone down south that had some, the only other breeder that I knew of, passed away. You might want to post on the Wyandotte breeders website. Other than that, I don't really know. Sorry

Correct, and they have to be shown as well. But since this is the ground floor, the color needs to be worked with, for consistant results of color & pattern. That is why I started the auction low! To let someone have a chance at this guy.

cool whats girls look like

Girls are a light wheaten color all over, imaged the lightest partidge colored hen with more of a muted tone. Not brassy yellow. Hard to describe, I don't have any good picks, because they enjoy dunking their crest, to the point that they look like dreads. Waiting for them to finish molting so that they have nice full crests again.

When these hatched out I was lucky to get two clutches, with a total os 6 birds, 3 boys & 3 girls. They hatched & didn't look like anything I have ever hatched, so it was a long wait to see exactly what they would finish as. The males go through a lot of color changes to get to the end result. I contacted Sigrid with pics of them & a genetic profile on the breeding leading up to the end results. She told me that the photo of McSilkie was the coloest she had seen to a silkie being a true faverolle color & marking, and one of the girls photos was the closest thing to a true wheaten that she had ever seen.

Since we show all over the country, breed type is the first & formost thing in my breeding program. And since these are created from true purebred silkies ( not another breed crossed in to get the color) the type is already there( and pretty good examples if I do say so myself), and the only thing that needs to be tweeked is a consistant reproduction of color & pattern. So the out come should not take as long, as colors that have had to be crossed out to other breeds to be introduced to get consist color.
