With that said if she is missing some hackles which that's kinda what I'm seeing in this pic. So if I can take my finger and bleep out and fill those missing feathers in I think her back is good and I would use her as a breeder quality hen to a heavy foot feathered boy with a nice short back

Both are very nice and clean looking!!! I think she is darling the more I look at her

Thank you so much for your honesty. The back is one the the traits that I am really struggling to see well in my silkies. I don't have a trained eye at all. Here is another side shot of the pullet. I just want to make sure it wasn't the photo that made her back look long. It appears she may have lost some hackle feathers as the cockerel is getting "manly".

Look the arrows and compare crest, wing, back, vulture hocks.

Thank you, Beth! I was thinking of advertizing them in the auction as pick-up only here in Calif. and I don't want to mis-represent them. I am struggling to learn everything I can and don't want to keep anything to breed that I wouldn't be proud to show.

Ok I hear ya. I do on occasion keep breeder quality b/c sometimes they have attributes that can help but, are lacking elsewhere and when matched up with the right mate it can be good

Good point and I will no doubt do that also.
