I think it was rigged and the same person used multiple emails on their account to vote! only when we started voting for your silkie did they come out of no where with a ton of votes! But thats just me! Oh well the silkie is so much cuter then that cat, and we all know it thats all that matters!

Several votes at to travel long distance from Europe ;-)

Bummer about the photo contest. Love the partridge in a pear tree!

So, based on the eye line, I have a girl? I hatched 2 silkie chicks, I think 1 is a partridge from 2 partridge parents, the other is a mutt.

any idea on the color of this one? There are 2 blue roos with 2 white hens and 2 porcelain hens. That's why I call the second a mutt baby. I am going to be able to split by color this spring.

This one only has 4 toes on 1 foot.

I'm not going to hatch anything else until they all have more appropriate mates.

I will have to start looking to see if the eyeliner trick works or not on the partridge silkies.

I know on other breeds of birds it is not indicative of sex at all, both males and females in other breeds of chickens will have eye lines or eyeliner around the whole eye.

Sonoran, sorry about your loss. I'm not a fan of cats at all.

I took some pictures-- purely just for a funny or a good laugh. Wanted to get a Christmas chicken picture as it seems to be quite the fad on BYC lately!

Mine did NOT want to wear the santa hat, he was having none of that! So I did take a picture of me just holding the hat above his head because I worked hard on that hat! LOL! I may try again with another chicken... hehe!! But for now, I have a Christmas Silkie:

Although I find alot of information to be very helpful, be careful of what you are basing your sexing on compared to other countries.

I have been breeding partridges for quite sometime now and I can tell you that the eyeliner trick does not work on mine here in the US. Take a peak at the pictures I posted on the Partridge Silkie forum.

Also the 2 white lines on the back are indication for female partridges, male chicks can have them also but not as "pure" as females. The eyeline as I indicated on my posted photos are typical for a female partridge.
This is a typical eWh/eWh one day old chick pattern :

Yours look similar.
