I agree. I just love the sizzles. Everytime I hatch any I love what I get. I can do a hatch next fall and get different looking chicks. I'm always pleased. Apparently others are too because the sizzle egg auctions or BIN always go fast. Next year i'll have my bbs silkie pen separated by color also. It's gonna be hard when I make my picks of who to keep in the spring. I sell off all the rest.

My silkies are SPOILED ROTTEN!!!! They don't sleep in their coop....instead the sleep in a nice kennel with a soft old dog bed and a soft old dog snuggie

the are spoiled i tell you! And then in the morning i let them out and they hang out with my layers and breeders and suprisingly they all like each other and get along great! They are hilarious and my cockerel is nicer than my pullet and is my little brothers best friend

that is my little brother and 'Puffy' his silkie! He loves his silkie more than the other chickens and is always out there holding him and pushing him in a wagon or walking around the yard with him! And the silkie just goes with it and i think he enjoys the attention. I plan on getting many, many more silkies!

ok got a question it has been raining here almost non stop for a week we finally got a break in the weather that whole time the silkies were in their coop nice and dry then my dumb husband decided to let them out in the run where it is very muddy and they decided to take a mud bath how do i clean them? what do i need to put in the run to keep it dry for them since the run is not inclosed at the moment after income taxes i plan to inclose the top so no rain gets in unless its from the sides when the rain blows. this morning i went out to leave for work and my poor babies are muddy very muddy and i do not want them to get sick. it is cold here so how do i bath them with out them getting sick or do i have to wait till it warms up at around march or april to bath them i can not bring them in my house not enough room.

For today, I would put them back in their coop with some form of warmth until they dry. The mud will probably fall of when they are dry. If not, you can give them a warm bath but if it's cold outside you'll need to keep them inside until they dry.

You don't. You make certain their bedding is deep and clean. By tomorrow you won't recognize them.

To help with the mud problem in the run toss out a thick layer of straw. Keeps them drier and less muddy, it also gives them something to do.
