oops - sorry for the double post - ok - how to get that yellow out before the show? I washed her with whitening shampoo.............

There is a "bluing" shampoo available for horses. Also probably for humans. No idea if they are safe for chickens but something with a "bluing" agent is what you need to make whites whiter.

I really like it! Would look great in HDR. I'd like to see a little more foreground so you really get the feeling he is contemplating that frozen dandelion.

Took this yesterday when we had 60 degree weather in winter! So far we've had a wonderful winter!! (it's all ending today though-- snow is coming --bummer) He is an 8 month old cockerel-- usually he stands up straight, but he seemed a little confused because I put him in the front yard hoping he'd stay still long enough to take a pic. Instead, he hunched down and dropped his wings. Ah well. Just wanted to share!

His tail is really starting to come in a bit more and he has more pin feathers starting to come in all over-- mainly his neck, tail and chest.

Thanks! the picture came out really sharp-- yeah, it would have been nicer with a bit more foreground. He kept turning away from me and I had to keep trying to get in front of him. He's been fairly difficult to capture.

Cherwill-- WOW!! LOVE your little beauty! She is so pretty and you did a great job fluffing her! :)

Mschickenlittle-- cute silkies and peeps. :)

sagersilkies, no idea if that is gapeworm or not. Never dealt with it before. I do know that I did have a couple of birds yawning like that and I took them to the vet. He said it's upper respiratory congestion. So she could be really congested. I'd get on that. Clean out the bedding, make sure there is no mold , no water spilling anywhere. Make sure it's as dry as possible with great venting for fresh air. And put some VetRX in their water. That's just my opinion.
ETA: -- just wanted to add in case you have not used VetRX or are cautious about using meds-- this is an all natural, purely essential oil blend. It smells sort of like vicks vapor rub, has a great menthol smell and is supposed to help clear them up. The other essential oils in there are great at fighting bacteria- naturally. You can drop a couple drops in their water and even rub a bit on their beak around their nose.
