x 2!!! I love it ....

Just wanted to share a little about my special girl, Cali. It amazes me sometimes because I've never been so attached to a chicken! The above picture isn't the best, but it shows her (head at the top looking to the right - lol) standing there next to my skirt. I was just rubbing her and snapped a quick picture on my phone. When I walk to my brother's grave, I always bring her along. She doesn't seem to mind being carried or held for awhile. The other day, my boyfriend and I were sitting on the bench at the grave, and I put Cali in between us. She sit there for the longest time without any complaints. Would have loved to got a picture of the three of us!

Here's my favorite picture of her (she was about 4 months old here). I really need to get it developed and framed.

I know I've read a few people say they prefer their boy silkies over the girls (as far as personalities, I guess). Does most agree with that statement? I like my two boys; they got personality for sure, but Cali is the best, hands down!

That picture of her is really, really beautiful!! Sounds like you have an amazing bird, for sure! What a sweetie! Well, I love my boy better than my girls. But one of my girls is a bit more "flappy" and doesn't like to be held for long. My cockerel, though -- you could probably hold him all day and he'd just snuggle into you and is perfectly content. He's just happy being held and will follow me and come to me when I call! Then I have the crazy two cockerels out in my layer pen and they are hilarious-- they are super sweet and like to be held, too. They don't really come to me, but they are easy to pick up. I think you have a very special girl, none of mine are really like that. I'm really sorry about your brother, that is so nice that your BF goes with you.

Thanks. I like him alright as I'm sure everyone can tell;-) And funny you say that - I had been thinking of adding a page to my website titled" asian ground parrots"
with pics of my silkies hanging out with the chis. I had read that before when you mentioned it. Too funny. My FIL said they look like something out of a Dr. Seuss(sp)
books. Quite accurate I think.

He's a gorgeous boy! I love those feet!! That first photo is hilarious.

It reminds me of a lady who was keeping a silkie in the city (no chickens allowed) and she told everyone it was and Asian ground parrot!

I try to pick up the girls as much as possible to get them out of the "flappiness." One of my girls though, Kyla, doesn't seem to like me at all - unless I have mealworms, but even then, she just wants my worms! Your cockerel sounds like a sweetie too! I have one boy that will come to his name, Cloud, but his parents were my first ever Silkies, which I'm guessing were hatchery stock, and I sold them off and bought my new ones from Birds and Eggs, but kept Cloud as he was the only chick they hatched out and so funny. And thanks, my brother passed about 3 years ago, and we went down there to pull some weeds and add some straw around his flowers.

BTW, I was going to mention, Birds and Eggs started doing Columbian Silkies last year, I think. They have a Facebook - here, and a website - here. Thought you might enjoy looking at her pictures of her Columbians!

Definitely a frameable photo! She is so precious! All four of my girls are super sweet and peaceful but my roo is very protective of the girls and the juveniles. He is fun to watch but he'd like to scratch my eyes out I think!

Thank you so much for those links to Birds and Eggs!!! OH MY-- she has a color called Silver Partridge that is AMAZING!!! I want those!!! LOL Is that an "official silkie color"? Anyone know? I'll have to put the Columbian on a long wish list since I can't show them and the whole point is for my kids to have fun with 4-H. Her birds are stunning!
