It's not uncommon, although probably less common than in cochins. It is especially common with people who want to show their birds at the same time as they are breeding them.

starting to figure it out.....

I think I am going to concentrate on splash and paint because those are really my favorites. So, if you were starting out, would you get eggs, chicks or try to find a trio of a little older birds? I am thinking the older ones, because at least then I know how they will turn out. Any thoughts?

I am also going to have a white and a buff for my middle two children just because they love them

I'm getting pretty excited about these two splash (pullets I think). They will be 3 1/2 months next weekend. It's amazing how they suddenly go from the awkward bad hair day to looking like they just stepped out of the beauty parlor.

What do you guys think?

Nice birds! Pretend now that I said lots of intelligent and insightful things about how well-developed their crests are for that age and the nice contrast in their streaking--and that it sounded good, like I knew what I was talking about.

I do know they'd be getting me excited, too, were they my birds!
