Silkie thread!

So this is dear Marble with Brandon. Countdown continues, day 9 on the hatching project!
Poor Marble was NOOOT happy at all when we pulled her off her eggs for Brandon's photo shoot. She took it like a champ though, sat in the hat and had her picture taken like a good girl. Then back on the eggs she went.
Gotta love these Silkies!

How precious is that??!

I ordered Showgirls yesterday..egss..my first time. Question.... So, don't laugh..pleeeeze? lol...I'm laughing at myself.
Here's the question. When you hatch these eggs, are you going to get all Showgirls, or are they like some chicks..for example the Frizzles', and you may get some frizzle, some regular. So, would I get some showgirls and some straight Silkies? Or all showgirls? Still learning on these fun birds..best place to come and get the right info. I may be back with oodles more questions.
This lady sends her eggs Fedex..hoping to get them tomorrow!

Depends on the person's flock. Usually they mix Silkies and showgirls so yes you will get a percentage of Naked Neck Silkies (Showgirls) and regular Silkies

Thank you, I have a feeling the way it was worded, that this made sense..some of both. Just wasn't quite sure. Thanks SOS! Will be fun to see what I get for sure.

Chickenzrok, Awwwww! They're Soooo cute. Congratulations! I'm terrible at picking names. I let my four old daughter name all our chickens. Pretty funny to see what names she comes up with. Usually it depends on what movie is her favorite at the time. Last year she loved watching UP. So, yes, we have a hen named Kevin.

I like the naming format! I had a boy name my first cockatiel. I think he was hungry at the time, cause he gave him the name "COOKIE". But then I can't say much, I named my female finch FRENCY and my other cockatiel CAT (he makes a cat call). I think I will let my granddaughters all name the ducks and chickens -- the names will be quite interesting since the girls range from 9 to 2!

Oh, that is fatastic news! That your are safe, and also that your incubator woes have worked themselves out! Can't wait to see pics of your babies!
Yes, my incubator woes were mainly based on the fact that I was using a faulty thermometer and had set my incubator to it. It was 3 degrees off. (too hot!) I have 4 therms in there now, and it's reading as it should.

What is everyones opinion on bearded vs non-bearded silkies as far as showing? I haven't been able to get any straight answers...
No idea! I just like the look of the bearded. The non-bearded has it's own set of standards, like the larger wattles, etc.. Is this what you have?

Hey, April! Cute chickies!

Ahhhh, hey, I recognize your name now! I wasn't sure if you were over here on BYC, or not! :)

I have noticed that there are way less non-bearded, so your chance of getting a ribbon is greater if you have nons!
Very good to know!
