Here's some photos of my pretty splash girls. They're just a little over 4 months. I guess they are keepers so I'll have to name them.

I hope they don't crow!

Yes I have made mine very similar. A polystyrene box, 2 lights, thermometer x 2 one which displays humidity % and a thermostat.
I have just candled and I have 8 which look like are developing well

WOW, gorgeous!! They are beautiful! Are you sure that one on the right is a girl? Looks kind of boyish, but hey, who knows! Hope it's a she! Either way, stunning! I'd be happy.

Today was Third Grader Day at my high school. We had all the 3rd graders from the county come visit and learn about agriculture. I did a presentation on domestic chickens and I brought in my Silkies for them to see. This is the most popular response I got... " Is that a turkey?" I don't have showgirls.. just plain old fluffybutt Partridge Silkies. Just thought it was hilarious cause there was a turkey pen right beside our table with a 40 pound turkey in it, gobbling away, while my birds are less than 5 pounds put together and clucking.

That's cute! Eh, what do they know, I bet a lot of them haven't seen a chicken up close, anyway.

Well today they got to be up close and personal. They got to pet my Silkies, my friends meat chicks, and another guys Pekin ducklings. A few kids even tried to reach in the fish tank to grab a catfish lol.

I need to trim around Nugget's eyes because his/her head has gotten really full in the last week and you can tell with all the head bobbing that he/she is having trouble seeing. I've tried two scissors and both of them just bent the feathers in half. siiiigh I'm afraid to use sharper scissors because they are really pointy and Nugget really hates when you hold him/her still. Does plucking hurt them? (Because I know it hurts when I pluck my eyebrows. LOL) I don't want Nugget to fear us because of it. Any suggestions on what to do? So how do you all go about doing this? Nugget sure is getting super pretty, finally past that awkward stage.

I just found out today my only female grey silkie girl just died. She was doing a little head tilt so I separated her and she was doing fine yesterday and then she was dead this morning. I was hoping that I would be able to find some SQ or BQ bearded grey girls to go with my now VERY lonely boy..
Please let me know if you have any available.

I use good blunt nosed scissors like you use on a baby.

It could happen! you never know! But I'll be happy with a nice roo too! I had four and the other two were cockerels. Big different in looks a behavior. I can almost always tell by 3 months with behavior.

If you are ever thinking of getting eggs from Elite Silkies in the future I highly reccomend!
They are gorgeous!!!

I LOVE the one way in the back! lol It's almost like she/he is plotting something.
