Silkie thread!

Okay okay.. All the blue and black talk is hurting my head...

how do you know if you got a TRUE black? An obvious black if you don't know what the parents were?

And what's the difference between a buff and a red buff?
RED BUFF? Never heard of THAT.

They are so pretty! When do you clip their wings? I have 10 week old red sexed link and a silver lace. should i be trimming their feathers since they are starting to range?
I NEVER clip wings. I currently have a dog-bitten white rock recovering in a cage in my foyer. Her wings were clipped and she could not get away! BTW, she is NOT my bird. I don't clip wings.

I have another question now that I'm on the genetics roll! lol

If the white gene is recessive, you need to breed white to white to get white, correct? When white is bred to something else, you'll most likely get something else?
We have one white chick as of now. There are two white hens, no white roosters. Was this just a rare thing that we happened to get a white chick? Or one of the roosters has white somewhere in the genes? Does it work that way?
Yes, if you get a white chick with only one white parent then either the other parent carries recessive white (assuming the whites are recessive), or alternatively the white parent is dominant white. But dom white is usually very leaky, and to get a pure white bird requires a lot of "helper" genes such as silver and barring
