i think my bird has a split on both wings, but is only 9 weeks and it is probably way to early to tell.

And I agree with peepblessed, it is too young. I had an Ameraucana pullet I was convinced had a split wing from the minute she started to feather out. HUGE gap with a queer angle on the lower part of her wings. Now, at 7 plus months, her wings are PERFECT.

Quite possibly. My girls are usually pretty much done with the chest bump by two months but some girls like to push their weight around even when grown!

I don't think this one looks split.

And I agree with peepblessed, it is too young. I had an Ameraucana pullet I was convinced had a split wing from the minute she started to feather out. HUGE gap with a queer angle on the lower part of her wings. Now, at 7 plus months, her wings are PERFECT.

One side obviously looks better than the other. I'll have to wait to see how her wings grow out. I'm just concerned because the others don't look like this. Their wings look a lot nicer. But yeah, I have some time!

I'm actually thinking I may try to take a few birds to this show because this show usually hires respectable (knowledgeable) judges so I'm hoping I can use it as an opportunity to learn. See if I can't track down the judge and ask for some brutally honest assessments. We don't have as many opportunities in Canada. Certainly nothing NEAR the shows most of you have access too - or competition. A big show here is a couple of hundred birds, if we're lucky.

Definitely take your birds-- even the ones with some faults, because you will learn so much that way! The judges here will let the owner of the bird in the same aisle-- everyone else has to be an aisle over (behind or in front). The ones I've been to, the judge will hold the bird up and speak loud enough that most people close by can hear what he's saying about the faults, etc. Then you can ask him after all the judging is over your questions. They are usually pretty happy to help you out unless they are busy. You will have so much fun at your show!! And if you learn anything new-- come tell us! LOL
