Silkie thread!

I got my silkies today!

I got a dark partridge bearded silkie, a buff bearded silkie, and a black beard-less silkie! I love them! I named them Cinnamon, Sugar, and Sissy.

This is Sissy(left) and Sugar(right) battling it out. They've about got the pecking order established now.

I will get some more pictures later.
What a cute photo!! That is a really beautiful buff!

Some updated photos of my 2 1/2 month old silkies. I've been watching the wings as they grow and they seem to be holding them better. Of course Picaso the pain roo has figured out that holding his wings out and away helps cool him down. It is soooo hot here, my poor chickens are panting in the shade :(

Peepers - blue partridge?

Haven't named her yet, she is sooo sweet will talk to you all day. Black hen

Blue Splash hen...still need a name for her..she's more standoffish.
I sure feel bad for your pretty little flock in the heat. If your humidity isn't too high, soaking the ground in the shade will help. Hope it cools down soon!

I think I've decided to leave my poor little Silkie's fused toes alone since at 2 weeks, s/he's getting around just fine. Also, my Silkies seem pretty skittish. They're hatchery babies and we've had them for 2 weeks (since they were a day old). Every day I feed them by hand but they're still really skittish. Is this normal?

Only one made it to lock down here---if I'm fortunate, one more still could go.
Sorry to all. I have tried to post before and just couldn't get the hang of it. I sure did not plan on posting the same thing 3 times

I love paints. Yours is stunning. I think the first one looks girly to me.

We have 17 hatchery chicks (2 weeks old today) in our backyard. 6 of them are Silkies and I noticed today that one of the white Silkies has two toes that are completely grown together on both feet. I guess I had been paying more attention to their butts since a few had pasty butt and didn't notice the toes until this morning. They're bad enough that I know there is nothing I can do at this point. Will the chick be okay? S/he doesn't seem hindered in any way - s/he keeps up with the other 16 just fine but I don't know if s/he'll always be that way? I did a search for this on here and only came up with one other person with the same issue but there were no comments on the post. Here are some pictures:

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know the sex of my 7 week old black? Thanks.

7 weeks is usually too early to tell.

What is that gorgeous bird on your profile picture???
