Me Too!! I love the frizzled chickens in most breeds, I think it just adds an element of fascination to them!!Thanks, I will have to look into them. I love interesting looking chickens.
Cool, that's kinda neatYes, I believe you have to bathe and groom for showing. Here is a link on Backyard Chicken that might be helpful -->

And an article on bathing chickens:

Yes you do. I bathe mine first and use a puppy flea and tick shampoo and then on the really dirty spots, I use Palmolive dish soap. Then you pat them off with a towel and wrap them up with a dry towel and blow dry them on low setting. Keep blow drying and lightly fluffing until all fluffed. Then when I get to the show, I use a wire dog brush to LIGHTLY fluff and spray them with Pink Oil to fluff. I use wet wipes to spot clean rears and feet right before hand. Clean out toe nails, and more fluffing.Got a silly question, do you have to groom them for show?
My last shipped eggs, I only ordered 12 and when they got here, several had the air cells completely gone, and the others were all detached. I let them sit upright for a day and all the air came back up to the top. The important thing is to let them sit for that day. Then they can be turned. So go ahead and turn them if you are past the 2nd day. I got 7 out of 12 to hatch on those awful air cells!! So don't worry!! It's been done over and over again on pretty bad air cells, you'll still get you chicks. Unless the P.O. actually managed to rupture the yolk or left them out in the heat and cooked them, and then you're done. All kinds of factors. You can candle at Day 5 and you should see some veins at that point. But even if not, (i'm pretty good at candling) don't do anything until Day 10-- where you should be able to see an embryo. I wouldn't let mine sit for 7 days without being turned though-- even if they had bad air cells.Good luck! I don't want to sound too negative but I have never had a detached air cell egg hatch. I didn't turn the turner off though so maybe that's the key. I hope so!
She looks lavender to me! But lighting is everything, so I could be wrong. She is gorgeous! Looks like a girl.I'm so happy over this girl. She's definitely my keeper for the year.
I've named her Mia, and I'm almost certain it's a girl, so hope SHE doesn't change.![]()
Anyway, I wanted to ask about her color.
Is she considered lavender/self blue?
She looks almost white half the time. Here's some pictures from today.

You need to blow dry her out until she's well fluffed. Don't run a brush thru her. I do use a wire dog brush when I'm blow drying, but only lightly-- and very carefully. You can use your fingers while you blow dry to lift the feathers and blow dry backwards-- to make the feathers stand up. Don't put out a wet silkie who hasn't been fluffed with the blow dryer-- bad idea. And use it on low setting and make sure you don't over heat your bird.Help I gave my White Silkie a bath today and she has like matted feathers on her chin area , do l just comb it out?? or what do I do?? I want her fluffy LOL
Ayda
