Silkie thread!

Anyone want to guess on gender of this one?
I call Hen

As I haven't had silkies for very long, I can't say that I have, but I've seen pullets of my other breeds (slw, oegb) get all up in each others face, raise their hackles, fly at each other, etc. while establishing the pecking order. I have a year old slw who is the top hen, and she lets everyone know it, even my lab if he happens to stray to close to her mightiness, by raising her hackles and trying to flog him! And she is most definitely a hen. Our slw rooster has his job of protecting the flock cut out for him

My Silkie chicks did this when they were very young. I asked about it and was told it was for pecking order.

Well I went ahead and washed my 3 girls that i am taking to the show next Saturday...I was so nervous about doing it but they were fine and seemed to enjoy it after a while...

washing them I realized how dirty and broken their feet feathers are...oh well...first time showing so you can't expect miracles I guess. Next i am going to try and trim their beaks just a little to round them off.

anyone with experience...do i wash them again in a couple of days? or leave them now to get their natural oils back?

They are in the basement in cages with deep shavings with a lamp on them drying...is there anything else that I should be doing to get ready for Saturday? any advice is welcome...thanks

this is what I used to wash them in....

here they are being washed...

and here they are in the basement fluffing up...sorry for the crappy phone pics...

sorry for all the frantic posting and pictures but I am REALLY nervous about going to my first show and showing my chickens...I am going by myself and I know nothing about anything and know noone...lol!!!

If anyone is going to the Calhoun show in GA...come and say hi...please!

Hey I am going!!! My first show to attend, not showing. I will for sure stop by to see you. See you Saturday!!! Your chicks are beautiful :)

Ill try in post better pictures today. No, no paint eggs. I got some lav, por ,b/s. One Porcelain hatchery. 2 b/s abd tge rest are lavender. I talked to" kelar" she sait they might be split do I got different colors. But the lighter blue/gray one i would like to know exactly what color it is. Its turning a light gray color. At what age can it be a definitely thing of knowing what color it will be?
What does b/s (blk over splash, or blue over splash?) abd, tge, mean? Thanks.

I'm Jealous! LOL I would love to take a trip down there to see her setup. I will definitely be getting some pullets or hens at some point from her, I LOVE her silkies. I feel bad for my little silkie roo being all alone. Fingers crossed I can move him in with my LF chicks that are nearly as big as he is right now, so he has some company.
