Well let me tell you what... I let Roger breed with a white silkie... I have one black... one black with gold leakage... one I have no idea... I was advised that I shouldn't have done that since there was no telling what I would get... boy was that true!

On the Ameraucana thread, if i understand correctly.... a bird that is not a "recognized" color is not considered an Ameraucana, no matter if both parents are purebred. If silkie breeders were to apply the same logic, then any unrecognized or "off color" bird would not be considered a silkie. So, your little one with unknown color wouldn't even be considered a silkie. Boy, what havoc that would create with breeders.
 
fortunately silkies are based because of their feathering, they are unmistakable lol. I can see how they could do that with "regular" chickens
