Is the leg twisted??? or is it slipping out to the side??? I'd redo the bandaid but make sure it is tight enough to bring the legs to the proper position. The other thing I read which I think could be really helpful is to put your chick in a narrow teacup or cup.... so that there is no room for the legs to move out to the side.... and lastly I'd make sure you have a "grippy" surface for it to walk on.... the rubber spongey shelf liner many use in their incubators is great! Good luck ...
That's a good sign in a roo I think! My roo Steve is always in the grow out pen. He loves chicks, and does the same thing you are describing. On a number of occassions I've have pullets go broody before or as soon as they start laying (silkies) I've had brahma and brahma mix cockerels who have taken over babysitting smaller younger chicks on two occassions now. Right now I have a 3 month old brahma mix cockerel who is the guardian of 7 silkie chicks that are all a month or younger, he lets them all crowd with him and tries to cover as many as he can at night, and even gives the boy call for food, etc...

I've had a hard time with hobbles on silkies. Their legs are so tiny and short compared to other breeds.. I have one right now with splayed leg, but it's not as bad as my first. The first chick I had with it (silkie) it was really bad, and she rested on her hocks on top of being splayed. She couldn't move enough to get to food and water even without the hobbles, and she died overnightthank you. The website is great, but it's easier to read than actually apply it lol. I have pee pee pads in the brooder and her legs goes forward when she stands. When she walks her legs goes to the left. It's like she has a huge legs, but when i checked it is the same length than the other. She is definitely not very active.... i force it to drink but she doesn't want it much. I hope she makes it!
I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask this question, but I was wondering if it was possible for someone to give me a guess, estimation, even a guesstimation on the age of a scruffy, little chicken that found a home with us a couple days ago. I have no clue how old it is and am fairly new to chickens altogether. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the quality of the photos, I took them on my phone and Squeakers is still very shy. Though it has taken to napping in my lap, which is adorkable!
