Silkie thread!

Somewhere on Facebook I was reading that people use Frontline for cats and dogs on chickens to prevent & kill lice and such. As well as some products made for horses, goats, sheep, cattle, etc.. I came across this product in the barn, apparently it was from way back when our goats had lice.

Would this product be safe to put on chickens, a couple of drops worth? God forbid my silkies get lice again, I want to have something handy that'll kill the bugs. If Ultra Boss is not safe for chickens, I will go and find something else to have around. I think I will give DE a shot also, just treat everything to prevent problems. Would someone give me a refresher how DE works? Just sprinkle it in the coop & the run?
i would dilute it with water and spray it on the birds

Hi Everyone :frow I tried catching up reading but still have many pages to go. So I just decided to post and read the pages when I can. :D I hope everyone is doing well and your birds are well.

.

Sanna I use Adams Flea spray for dogs it works well. I buy a large spray bottle and it lasts a long long time. I also will buy some Poultry dust/powder and put in there dirt places for bathing. I am always watching them because last year I had a mite outbreak and those are terrible. I read somewhere that you can spray your coop with orange oil and in the new backyardpoultry magazine it tells how to make your own. I think I am going to try that also. Adding just a few cedar chips to the pine shavings is good, but only a few. Mint flavoring you get at the grocery store can also be distributed in the coop. I have also added pine needles to my coop from time to time(an old pigeon man told me that one ;) )

Oh How Adorable chickendales :love I love your white silkies hairdo. :p (thats why I love this thread so much~all the beautiful pictures ;) and very nice people)

Silkie Chicks and started birds for sale - $10 (aloha)

At this time I have some Blue and Black chicks from show quality lines.
The black chicks are split to paint so they carry the paint gene and when bred to paints will produce high # of paint chicks.
Strait run $10 each

I also have some RARE Buff silkies these are 7 weeks old and are from some of the best bloodlines in the country.
They are amazing looking silkies and should be some great sshow and breeding birds.
The ONLY reason I have some for sale is because I am limited on space and can't keep them all......
Strait run but I can give it an educated guess.
$40 each

At that age they are not straight run! Pretty easy to see a cock and two hens. Or maybe that is the parent birds? Anyways, NOT rare.

Also, I VERY, VERY strongly doubt that black can hide paint. I'd be willing to bet a LOT on that! Now breed the black to a paint and THE PAINT can pass the necessary gene(s), but NOT the black. I'm less certain about white (dominant, not recessive) being able to hide paint genes.

I took some pictures yesterday of my little silkie flock

I merged the 2 month olds with the 5 month olds, and they got along wonderfully, and all snuggle up together at night. Silkies have got to be the most gentle birds to young chicks.

The youngest ones love to hang out in our raised shade plant bed.

I just love this fluffy girl

This one too.

My whole sweet flock together. As you can probably tell, it was windy yesterday lol

This little guy is 1/3 polish, and the rest silkie. His foot feathers are make him look like he has snowshoes
