The Canadian system of weights and measures is much easier!!
Only if you understand metrics to the standpoint of KNOWING what X degrees feels like or how heavy X kilos is to actually lift. I can calculate the numbers, but don't KNOW their meaning like I do lbs and ounces and degrees Fahrenheit.
Yes, it was a bit of a challenge to get used to the metric system when it was first introduced. My parents still think in Fahrenheit and gripe about Celsius temperatures. Means nothing to them.
I was on the cusp; in school when Canada made the decision to change. Originally learned inches and feet but got switched over to centimetres and metres before my brain was completely hardened off. But the nicest thing about metric, all in factors of 10. 1 cc = 1 ml. That part makes even the most math-challenged of us (myself counted among them!) some what able to follow along.
(I'm betting aoxa is young, younger than I am, at any rate. I'm betting she grew up knowing only metric. So it makes perfect sense to her.)
I have yet to weigh my Silkies. We are entered in our first show at the end of the month so weighing will happen with their baths.
(Thankfully, my scale does weights both ways!!!!)
