He is buff, not partridge, although he appears to be e^b based rather than E^Wh based.  e^b is the base for the partridge pattern, however he does not appear to have the pattern gene.  Else he would be partridge patterned, and he is not..

So call him buff?

He seems to have some patterns in his foot feathers. That's about the only pattern I see.

When I go to describe his colour, I always am confused as to what to call him.. He's a poor quality buff.. Is that how I should say it?

Having a known name in the lineage is no guarantee on the birds being better quality than are birds of unknown lineage. On a regular basis you hear of people selling birds that may be generations away from the ones bred by the named breeder, but still being sold with the big name attached. And the big name breeders get very annoyed. And some breeders therefore make a point of not listing their bird sources when they are the ones making the breeding decisions.

A lot is really how it is stated, and the intent. If the intent is to credit the named breeder with a fantastic bird you hatched, they will likely smile; if the intent is to trade on the name and make money selling "show quality hatching eggs," they will growl and gnash their teeth.

When I give lineage, I may state what breeders I have purchased birds from in the past, but most of the time that is only in general discussion, and it is never to say that my birds are from ... unless a specific bird is indeed bred by that breeder. I can certainly give credit to the breeders who have supplied my flock, but I cannot claim their fame; it isn't mine.

As an example, here is how I refer to my sebastapols: Bliz came from a friend's flock that was originally from Metzger, a number of generations ago. Nibbles came from an egg from a neighbor's flock that were purchased as goslings from Holderead's. If Nibbles is indeed a young gander, then any eggs they hatch together will be even more convoluted to describe, but it is honest. If I were to bring in more lines (no plans to) and keep breeding the best together for several years, at some point I would stop mentioning their background as they would have become my lines as the breeding decisions (for good or bad) would have been mine.

i agree,i hate when people line drop when there selling birds unless birds are breed by that breeder then there should be no line dropping If you breed it it your lines not big names

I really feel for all people in the path of the storm...my thoughts are with you all and please stay safe and keep all your animals as safe as you can...prepare now and don't wait...have a backup plan for when the power goes out...

Thanks for your thoughts. We've been "battening down the hatches".... securing everything, stocking up on feed, filling 5 gallon pails with water, getting ready for the possibility of snow along with rain...so trying to do some winterizing earlier than we had expected. Also staying in touch with fellow BYCers in NY to see if anyone needs any help or supplies. Pls keep your fingers crossed for all of us.

How are you all doing who are in the path of the storm? Everyone prepared and safe??

I got the silkie into the barn and closed up the coops. They are all very comfy in the barn, they seem to like their pens. Hopefully, we don't get any damage.

On silkie cloud nine. I just had 10 silkies given to me on Friday and already have 11 eggs in 2 days, would have had 12 but one of the girls laid on the ramp and it busted. I just wanted to share some pictures of the new girls, no boys and my total is now 24. Gonna flood you all with pictures now. Love my silkies.
