On silkie cloud nine. I just had 10 silkies given to me on Friday and already have 11 eggs in 2 days, would have had 12 but one of the girls laid on the ramp and it busted. I just wanted to share some pictures of the new girls, no boys and my total is now 24. Gonna flood you all with pictures now. Love my silkies.

A broody buff out to eat

I know, not a silkie but she lays and my husband likes her

A nice blue girl, she is molting and lost most of her crest

2 of the white girls with 1 of the black girls

2 buff girls and 2 wheaton based partridge girls

Love this black girls crest

This is the sweetest little girl but she doesn't get around very well by herself. I think I am starting to like the whites. Sorry for all the pictures but I just had to share.

now you just need get them some boy freinds and those are just smutty buffs but if you get nice buff male they can make u some nice buffs i do some trimming on the white hen she just cant see

They have boyfriends, just not a buff boy right now. I have a Colombian boy, a blue boy and a red partridge boy but none of them are old enough to breed yet. Check out the lacing on this girl. Don't know what to call her but I love the look of her.

Thanks for your thoughts. We've been "battening down the hatches".... securing everything, stocking up on feed, filling 5 gallon pails with water, getting ready for the possibility of snow along with rain...so trying to do some winterizing earlier than we had expected. Also staying in touch with fellow BYCers in NY to see if anyone needs any help or supplies. Pls keep your fingers crossed for all of us.

Really unique and so pretty! Are those laced feathers silkied? They look like regular feathers....

Types of feed are starter, starter/grower, grower, flock raiser, layer, etc.  Ever brand is a bit different on the details, but a starter/grower is meant to last through the whole time until adulthood, whereas a starter is followed  by a grower, then by adult food.

They keep changing the requirements for organic, so I don't know if organic still allows GMO grains or not.   I know that Integrifeeds (king-brand.com) has a line of "natural" feeds that specifically excludes GMO products; however, it is not "organic."  IMO, it is far better.  I do not/will not use organic because chickens are not vegetarian, and I feel that a vegetarian diet is detrimental to them.

I didn't know organic could have GMO, Wow I didn't realize it wouldn't have protien. I won't be buying it again the chickens refused to eat it today. Thanks so much for this information. I did see some bags that said all natural I think it was purina. I'll have to check it out and see if its GMO free. If not ill check out king-brand.com
