Silkie thread!

OH NO! My favorite Silkie, Voodoo, is breathing hard and sounds a little congested. I'm on my way to search here for answers, just thought I'd share my m
Hope I'm not jinxing it- but Voodoo is better today! Not congested at all! I'll check him again tonight, when congestion is usually worse. He was breathing with his mouth open, but some of my others do that when I'm holding them (nervous). Anyway, I put Sulmet in his water while I wait for the other med from QC (not remembering name at the moment ) . One the way home from an event, stopped by the feedstore for Vet Rx- got it all ready, got him, and no wheezing! Before I even put the Vet Rx on him!! Hopefully, I don't have false hope. None of the others are showing any symptoms.

Here are pictures of my 4 month old boy. Any critiques? He is SO sweet. Do you think he's a keeper? [Sorry his feet are dirty. We just had a hurricane!] :)

So it has now been 4-5 weeks since he started trying to crow. He still sounds pathetic and it sounds like "eh eh eh...". LOL. It's not getting better. He also walks with a low chest and never chest butts with the other youngsters. Kind of runs from them. What do you think of that?

I think this is the nicest, beardless silkie I've seen. :)

Thank you, peepblessed! Thank you for responding and for the compliment.

But maybe he isn't so nice after all as I believe he is bearded. Below are a few from a couple of weeks ago. [Sorry about the mud!]
Hhmmm. Perhaps my earlier pix were at an odd angle, or did you think he's beardless because you can see his wattles so easily? Again, maybe that means he's not so nice?

Tomorrow he'll be exactly 4 months old, so kinda young. Might his beard continue to grow? Thanks for your thoughts and expertise!

The first picture made it look like he was beardless, but for being 4 months old he does still look very nice with a HUGE fluffy tail! They really don't reach their full potential until they are over a year or so i've heard.

Is it normal for baby silkies to rip up paper that is being used for their cage because i use to have bedding in there for them but they wont keep in their cage either . what else can i do for them to keep it in their cage i have tryed putting cardboard in there as well but nothing seams to work .

YAY !!!! My hens did exactly the same thing. I think it proved to me that their little immune systems are really very capable. Hope he continues to improve :)

When they get to about three weeks old they really love to tear the place up...mine are about three weeks now and they are running around chest bumping, throwing shavings everywhere...I have them in a large plastic sided dog crate so the shavings stay in luckily but I also have others in a wire one with cardboard around the inside about 8 inches tall and it seems to work...tie the cardboard on the inside to the wire? That's what I have done...works so far

He looks great for four months...nice head puff ball for a boy...but like was said the boys really fill out beautifully when they hit puberty and they seem to change a lot from fluffy to hackles and tail feathers...
