As far as the splayed legs, I had a very difficult time with the band aid and even with the rubber band, but I heard using a metal thread with fuzz works pretty well because it bends easily. You can find it at any art craft store (Michaels) or walmart.

I went to the feed store today with my kids and my oldest son always wants to go see the chickens and ducks (like we don't have any at home

). Anyway, they accept a lot of roosters from people who don't want them or can't keep them. I always see hatchery silkies but this time one caught my eye (he is obviously not from hatchery.) He seems very young, and looks nice especially his feet... a lot of feathers. His wings seems ok, I like his crest too, but I need you guys advice. I have 6 white chicks under one month, and a dozen of white eggs on the way, so i am going to have some roo in a few months to choose from lol. I just don't want miss an opportunity with the guy lol. They sell him for $15. What do you think about him (he is quite dirty)? Is he worthy to get him?

I got the little guy for $10 instead of $15

His wings seem ok, I will take more pictures when DH comes back. I agree with you sager silkies, his comb is a bit small but he is very young (i guess 5 months), so I will keep on eye on it.
He is very tame and easy going and doesn't crow yet lol. Anyways for $10, I won't complain lol. Thanks again!

I don't think air will be a problem but lack of ventilation builds humidity and damp coop can definitely cause problems.
I had one that did that. Never knew why....

I turned off the heat lamp to take these pictures, she actually moved the feeder over there and has planted herself under it.( I thought she might be a little too warm but she likes it) They are know living in an enclosed patio with screening. The chicks go out and about during the day) I swear she is a very smart chicken!!!! But thanks, I am wondering what color these guys might be my guess is blues??? And maybe partridge???? Any guesses???

small is good but the colour should be mulberry aproching black but urs is on the redder side but thats ok he looks great
