Silkie thread!

I ended up with five of the eight eggs hatching (the first hatched 10/24 and #5 hatched 11/5. They are so adorable. The two moms were co-parenting so well. Then I let them all out in the yard the other day for the first time and the moms were so happy taking dust baths and rolling around the yard. But before long the two moms started fighting. I was surprised because they were getting along so well before while they were in the close quarters of the henhouse. I thought maybe I should let them work it out between themselves but then they drew blood so I separated them.

I tried letting them back together the next day but they were still fighting so I split the chicks between them and put one mom in the upper compartment of the henhouse and one in the lower. (I had already closed off the top from the bottom because the chicks kept going down and getting stuck away from the nest.) Am I ever going to be able to let them back together or will I have to keep them separate forever? I was wondering if it was only because they were fighting over the chicks and once the chicks are big enough they will stop fighting. Is that just wishful thinking?

You have some real interesting Partridges! They are all so different. Is this last picture a Partridge too? I am also a Phyllis Fan.

Aoxa I think with my splash hen and partridge roo my little ones might look like this here are some recent photo's.

The first picture is of my what I thought was a black silkie hen but her fluff is more blueish grey. Got her in by accident. She is the one that is my smallest hen but absolutely one of the nicest girls!
