Nice chest all right! Handsome boy!
Not a chance in a hundred!!Thank you....me too.If not I'll just keep them as long as I can.![]()
I have a 5-week old splash chick that is already screaming "boy". Eventually the roosters will have to be thinned out. Even though you can't see his "splash" feathering coming in yet, I'm calling this guy, Smudge! I've never had such a young silkie develop a comb like this. "He" even has pink where the wattles will come in already.Oh, I have the worst time trying to hatch silkie girls.![]()
Is there any possibility it could be a girl?
I really, really want a splash girl!![]()
I'm kind of bummed today because I decided to sell my 2 splash boys. They are 8 months old. I really wanted to show Leo Pierre and use Leo Pierre and Mr. Puff in my BBS breeding pen. Considering I've only got one blue girl laying eggs, I feel this will be the best decision in the long run. Mysty Blue is so dominant and always thought she was the one in charge. And yet, these 2 boys were such little gentlemen. I will especially miss Leo Pierre........He is such a cuddler and getting more handsome every day. We have some younger silkies and I'm sure a few of them will end up being roosters.
The only positive thing is, they are priced higher than the average rooster so maybe nobody will be interested (and I'll get to keep them).![]()

Do you put apple cider vinegar in their water?
If not you definitely should. Cocci is in every bird's intestines, but when they show signs of it, they have an overloaded system.

Thank you, hstlwombat. Yes, I really like him. Chances are, I'll get to keep him because people around here probably won't pay $50 for both roosters. The most I've ever gotten for a silkie roo was $15. It's mostly my 11 year old son that is complaining about him crowing so early in the morning. (Why don't you keep him and breed him to the blue? She's too mean to him? I wouldn't let him go, you'll regret it since you like him so much. And, you can still show him, even if you don't breed him. He's a beauty! OH- I just read the ad- the crowing. So sorry![]()
