Silkie thread!

What a beautiful blue boy! I think I'll stick with smaller chickens thank you tho.

Trying to find an old english bantam rooster, since I have the hens already, I figured a way to keep everyone will just need to add a place for the Jerseys and silkies to free range seperately. Which should be fairly easy.

He's doing good, but he doesn't weigh as much as the others. He ate for me before I put him back in with the others. I hope he continues to eat. That worries me a little, but he is acting fine. perhaps he lost a lot of weight that week while he acted off?

Hey so how are silkie roosters temperment wise? Are they a little bit more mellow than other breeds? I was thinking about hatching some silikies in the spring, it seems easier to bring new chicks in that why rather than trying to integrate new chickens into an existing flock. I have a Russian Orloff rooster right now, would it be a problem to have a silkie rooster in the flock as well?? Heres a pic of my new blue silkie. My white silkie hatched her. SO cute!

You could always say they are hens that are crowing   That's my plan! Some hens do that! what do your silies look like? You may be able to sell them on here if they are good quality.

The boys look better than their sister (lots of hard tail and primary feathers) but are still defiantly pet quality. They are dark blue with gold leaking on the backs of their necks.

all my silkies have been pretty mellow, but I have not had any adult silkie roosters, only one young cockerel. But he was very friendly. I have a polish roo now and he is also very mellow.
