So I have one silkie hen and two silkie roosters... go figure right, after 8 silkie chicks 7 end up being roosters. To add to that, the one silkie hen has only four toes.. Well, they are supposted to be black silkies, but the male with 5 toes has white featers mixed in and the black male has 6 toes... So the question after all of this is who's the father to the one egg that hatched from the silkie mom?
polydactally is a dominant trait and this chick has 5 very nicely seperated toes. Does this mean that it's father is the roo with 5 toes or the roo with 6 toes? I would think that if the chick had 6 toes, its father would be the one with 6 toes. This chick is completely black too without any other color flecks so i'm stumped. Any ideas on siklie genes of bad type birds?
