Was sold these two silkies with 90% certainty they were female. The white one is last in pecking order, so I assumed that explained why it was less round than it’s sibling. Sent photos to breeder and was told she is show quality because of her large walnut comb. Please help!!

I don’t know why a walnut comb makes her show quality, walnut comb is only a small part of being potential show quality. Some lines silkies hens have combs but the standard calls for females to have very small combs. Only my boys have combs that large, my girls have a small bump about the size of a pea way up high. How old? It’s really hard to tell from pictures. The pictures make it look long like a cockerel but it maybe a girl that need to fill out.
This is one of my young boys you can see the comb, he has a comb and crows but no streamers yet.

This is a pullet about the same age

That last pic of the black pullet is a very nice bird. Big round tail, nice short back, big fluffy hocks, nice round crest, small feminine comb. Nice nice nice

No crowing, very vocal though. They’re about 8 months I believe. When do streamers come in? The head seems just as full as the black silkie, but I’m getting concerned about the larger comb and the behavior I notice. Constantly being harassed by the dominant hen on my small flock...never any pecking or injury but I’m wondering if the head hen can tell it’s a roo? Or am I thinking into this too much. Also, if it is a roo, please tell me silkies are quiet Crowder’s city limit!

They are both pullets. Streamer would be showing long before now it they are 8 months old. Comb is getting large because she is going to start laying. Though I'd be surprised if they aren't laying already.

No eggs yet but I’ll keep an eye out! I’m new to silkies, OBVIOUSLY. MY other girls are easier with their short combs and wattles ;)

Bantams mature much faster than large breeds. You might check for hidden nests. At 8 months old Silkies should be laying by now.
