Silkie too or “show quality” hen??

This is one of my girls showing change from pullet to hen. And my white hen from 6 weeks to a year.

This is not my photo but an excellent visual for what judges look for in body type.

Thank you that’s SUPER helpful!! I don’t intend to show or breed, I just wanted silkies. But if I had some hidden show quality hen, I could pick up a hobby

That last pic of the black pullet is a very nice bird. Big round tail, nice short back, big fluffy hocks, nice round crest, small feminine comb. Nice nice nice

No crowing, very vocal though. They’re about 8 months I believe. When do streamers come in? The head seems just as full as the black silkie, but I’m getting concerned about the larger comb and the behavior I notice. Constantly being harassed by the dominant hen on my small flock...never any pecking or injury but I’m wondering if the head hen can tell it’s a roo? Or am I thinking into this too much. Also, if it is a roo, please tell me silkies are quiet Crowder’s city limit!

8 months old that’s a lot older than I would of thought, I would of guessed 4-6 months old. I wouldn’t say either are show potential but they could have potential as breeders put with the right boys.
Your hens may be picking because young cockerel (I’m just not sold that the white one is a pullet) but also because they are new and silkies don’t always blend well with other breeds because they are more docile.

They’ve lived together since the silkies were 8 weeks and my other chicks were approximately 5 weeks. I do have a bully hen and am considering setting up a separate run for the silkies. I have a huge Cochin that is the silkie protector so as long as she continues, I am hoping they will all cooperate. I’ve been keeping a close eye, it’s mostly just chasing. They eat together and everyone is allowed to do their own thing, but there is a lot of vocalizing and chasing. Followed by more vocalizing as I’m sure you’re aware

Have you noticed the white one doing a funny little dance while dropping a wing? Or gently pecking hens on their backs?
If you have, then that white pullet is really a Roo !

I don’t show and only breed for hobby but I have found a passion in learning about SOP and genetics and how to improve my flock towards sop. For me it’s satisfying to put a pair together, predict how their offspring will be improved then watch a chick grow to see if you were right.

I have only had silkies and A couple serama hens and my Seramas definitely are top of the pecking order but only chasing or pecking is my little Seramas hens will chase the cockerels and it’s the funniest thing watching this tiny little hen send a cockerel 3x her size running across the yard.
