My family has a flock of 6, and this year we decided to add some more! So, we went to our local feed store and bought 4 chicks: an ameraucana, a black frizzle, a white silkie, and a blue silkie. Our feed store had them come in on different dates, so they’re each a week apart from the previous. The ameraucana and black frizzle are most definitely girls, and have no issues.

The issue comes in with our silkies: the white silkie appears to be a roo, and our blue silkies is a god-knows-what. Our white silkie is a week younger than our blue one, and both of them are a little over 3 months old. Our white one crows some mornings, others not. The issues mainly come in with our blue silkie, who has very little feathering, is much smaller, and has begun to make a crow-like noise (I ALSO JUST DISCOVERED OUR BLUE SILKIE HAS 4 TOES ON ONE FOOT, 5 ON THE OTHER). I’ll attach videos of each of their “crows” as well as photos.

I feel confident our white silkie is a roo, but I’m worried about our blue one due to all the aforementioned issues (is it sick?). Any guesses as to the blue silkie’s sex? Also, does anyone know why our blue silkie would have so many issues with feathering? Feel free to ask for any more info regarding the silkies/flock, I'm an open book! Thank you! :)

Your Blue Silkie is a roo as well. Sorry.

The comb is somewhat deformed, so the lines are not very good quality, likewise with the 4 toes on one foot. The slow feathering in is likely because it is a roo. Check to make sure the other roo isn't feather pecking.

But note both have very large combs. Female Silkies have little to no comb at all.

So 2 boys. Sorry.
