If I was going to get a rooster that was calm and quiet, [I need the breed that crows the least people!] which breed would be best? Please post your experiences.

It all depends upon the individual bird. In my experience neither breed has been excessive crowers with perhaps the cochins being a bit more quiet.

Okay, but by Cochins do you mean Pekins? It would actually be easier for me to get my hands on a pekin.

in USA we call pekins - cochin, some people think that pekins are original birds from China and the bantam cochins are miniature recreation of the large cochins. they look very much the same

Depends on what your goals are. I like both, I happen to have noisy ones. Pekins tend to be able to see a little better since they don’t have a crest.
