ok i have a very young silkie that i got recently with 2 roos i bought. i never noticed until today that she has a deformed foot. i wouldnt have noticed today except that she was limping on it and not wanting to put it down. im not sure what has happened but it looks like either a big feather was pulled out by force or a toe was pulled off. the other toes on that foot go sideways instead of being straight out when on the ground. they also curve to the side when she curls them to take a step or hold it up. i would like to determine if it was indeed a feather as i suspect that was pulled out or if it was a toe. i dont see bone i dont think. it looks more like the feather tubes and its a little bloody. i have her inside in a crate right now till she is able to heal and walk properly. shes not fond of people yet. i will get a pic and post it with this.

these are best out of 7 i took.

my camera doesnt do well on small details. if you look closely you can see right beside my thumb a small white thing. that is where the injury is.

Can you edit your photo before moving it to photo bucket? When I need more detail I enlarge the portion of the pic I need and save that.

Unless she had six toes on that foot then it is probably a feather. You've done what you need to do so far. If you find it continues to bother her a bunch you can add one 325 mg aspirin to a gallon of water to alleviate some of the pain.

i shouldve paid more attention in the beginning but i didnt. i know better now dont i? i really believe its a feather too. but shes calming down some now that she knows we are trying to help her.
