So I'm 100% this is a silkie... I think... Black skin, 5 toes, fluffy, beak just right, and just everything silkie but it's lacking feathers on its feet! Is this for sure a silkie and why doesn't it hae feathered feet. Got it from TSC

TSC gets them from hatcheries. Some hatcheries have it bred out of them. It could also be because it is so young, sometimes it can take a week or two for them to show up (lightly feathered feet).

I had 1 hen and 1 rooster with 0 feathering on their feet. they were 100% silkie. skin, toes, feather type. Just no feet feathering. A lot of hatcheries care more about quantity over quality. If you aren't planning on showing the little guy though, its fine. : )

Haha no showing, just a pet! I have 4 whites and 3 are roosters so I bought this red and a splash hoping they turn out as hens! We will see! In like 5 months I'll let you know! Here's the two of them

haha yea i feel you, i have the worst luck with roosters. Everytime I get chicks I end up with more roos then hens, and always love my roos cuz they have all the personality it seems!. I really really look over them now before I buy, usually try to go with the ones with the thinner legs and smaller overall body type, seems to be working out for me so far, so far lol. We raise blue and white, and I just recently got a silver partridge to add into my breeding group. But alrighty, good luck with ur babies ! : )

If it does feather it will be a light feathering on the legs themselves. I don't think you will get feet feathering from them. Above should look like a silkie but sometimes even with a silkie breeder there will be a throw back of regular feathers though it is rare.

I guess that will be interesting to see though!!!

Interesting thread! I just got silkies got them home and found the friendliest has no feathers on his/her feet. I know they had some sizzles so I was wondering if they mistakenly gave me one of those (they were going to keep them).
